MiniMax H3 Max: settings, prompts and real examples

MiniMax H3 Max is fal's post-trained version of MiniMax H3. That distinction matters when choosing an endpoint: a page advertising standard H3, H3 Max or H3 Max Turbo may expose different controls. This guide helps you prepare a short shot and read the available settings without treating the names as interchangeable.

Two recorded examples

Both were generated on September 27, 2026: text-to-video, 5 seconds, 768P, 16:9.

Coastal drive. The prompt asked for a red vintage convertible on a coastal cliff road at sunset, camera following by drone. Automated audio analysis heard soft piano-like music that the model added on its own—the prompt did not request a soundtrack.

Hummingbird macro. The prompt asked for a hummingbird feeding at a purple flower in close macro framing. Automated audio analysis heard ambient electronic music.

Judge both clips on subject stability and motion first. Treat the added music as a bonus rather than a controllable feature—neither prompt specified a soundtrack, and MiniMax H3 Max does not offer a silent mode to compare against.

What to check before your first request

The fal text-to-video schema lists 480P, 768P and 1080P output, with 768P as the default, and describes 1080P as refinement from a native 768P source. Cicadas' MiniMax H3 page offers 480P or 768P only; 1080P refinement is not selectable here. The same schema also lists a prompt-expansion setting and several aspect ratios—read it for the exact endpoint you intend to use, since an image-input endpoint can expose a different set of controls.

fal describes H3 Max as optimized for generation speed in its release announcement. Those are provider measurements, not a timing result from this site. A useful comparison includes upload, queue, prompt preparation, rendering and download—not only the fastest stage.

Prepare one shot

Write down the object that must remain stable, the one action you want, the camera movement and the stopping point. Start with the shortest duration that can show that action—five seconds is the fastest way to check whether a shot works before spending credits on a longer version.

Here is an original prompt draft—an untested extra idea, not one of the recorded examples above:

A single matte ceramic lamp stands on a walnut desk. A warm pool of light slowly grows brighter beneath the shade. The lamp and desk remain stationary. Locked camera, one continuous shot, gentle evening ambience, no people, no lettering and no cuts.

This brief separates the changing light from the fixed object. If the lamp bends or the desk texture moves, simplify the action before adding a camera move. If the framing is wrong, correct the composition separately from the lighting.

Choose the right input

Use text when the subject can be invented. Use a permitted product photograph when a specific item matters, then describe what should move rather than rewriting everything already visible. A reference does not guarantee exact geometry. Compare the beginning, middle and end against the original.

Make the speed comparison useful

Keep a small record for each attempt: duration, resolution, submitted time, playable time and accepted result. A failed generation refunds its credits automatically, so only accepted clips should count toward the total cost of a delivered shot—but still count the wall-clock time of any retry.

Review before editing
