Why use Cicadas for reverse video

Backwards or boomerang

Play the clip in reverse, or forwards and then backwards for a loop that comes back to its start. Pick 24 or 30 fps and 0.5×, 1× or 2× speed.

Reverse just the part you need

Set a start and end time (up to 60 seconds and 1,800 frames), then choose 480p, 720p or 1080p, never larger than your video.

Reverse a video with no upload

No account, upload or credits: your browser decodes each frame and encodes the MP4 on your device. The result lives only on this page, so download it before you leave or refresh.

Reverse video FAQ

Tested on Cicadas · reviewed 2026-10-01

Tested on 2026-10-01 in Chrome: 5 seconds of a 1080p clip reversed at 720p and 30 fps took about 15 seconds and gave 150 frames; the first frame matched the last moment of the source (33.7 dB PSNR, against 13.5 dB for the first moment) and the last frame matched the first. A boomerang of 3 seconds of a vertical clip (6 seconds out) at 480p and 24 fps, made on a phone-sized screen, ran forwards, turned at the right frame and came back. At 2× speed, 8 seconds became a 4-second MP4 at 60 fps. Output has no sound; decoding depends on your browser's codec support.
