Short answer: on the pages we read on October 17, 2026, the cheapest 5-second clip was CreateVision's Grok Imagine 1.5 at 480p, 25 credits or $0.25, followed by Cicadas' Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite at 480p, 28 credits or $0.28 to $0.34. All five say a failed generation gives its credits back; Higgsfield makes an exception for Grok. Higgsfield and CreateVision keep your work private by default, while Dreamega's free accounts are public by default. Higgsfield sells unlimited generation on selected models for a set period; none of the other pages we read offer unlimited video.
We make Cicadas, so it is in this table too. Everything about the other four is quoted from their own pricing pages, help centers and articles as we read them on October 17, 2026, with a screenshot of each page kept on file. We did not sign up to them or generate there, so we say nothing about how their videos look.

How we turned credits into dollars
Each site prices clips in its own credits, so a credit is not worth the same everywhere. We turned credits into dollars at the price of a credit on each site's cheapest plan or pack: Higgsfield Starter, $15 for 200 credits; CreateVision's stated $0.01 a credit on its Starter pack; Dreamega Lite, $19.99 for 300 credits; Cicadas' $4.90 first pack of 400 credits and its $15 pack of 1,500. Bigger plans cost less per credit everywhere.
Higgsfield
Higgsfield's pricing page lists Starter at $15 a month for 200 credits, Plus at $49 for 1,000 and Ultra at $129 for 3,000, with lower yearly prices on Plus and Ultra. Its August 2026 article on credits puts a 5-second 720p clip at about 8 credits on Wan 2.7 and 10 on Kling 3.0. Its help center says failed generations get their credits back automatically, except Grok, which is charged when it starts. Everything you create starts private until you publish it. Unlimited means selected models stop using credits for a set period, 7 days on Plus for Kling 3.0. Credit packs last 90 days and plan credits reset at renewal. There is a free tier on a few models with no credits and no trial.
Kling
Kling's credit policy says $1 buys 66 credits at the standard price, and that if a generation fails, its credits are refunded. Credits from a plan last one month; bought credits last two years. Its July 2026 plan guide lists Standard at $6.99 for the first month ($8.80 after) with 660 credits, listed as 660 images or 33 720p videos, and a Basic plan at $0 with no monthly credits. The pages we read give no price for a 5-second clip and do not say whether your videos are public or private.
CreateVision
CreateVision's video pricing page, with rates updated on September 7, 2026, lists Grok Imagine 1.5 at 480p at 25 credits for 5 seconds and Kling 3.0 at 720p without audio at 225, at $0.01 a credit on its Starter pack. It says a failed or refused run is refunded automatically. Its FAQ says everything you create is private by default on any plan, and that credit packs never expire while monthly credits do not roll over. Plans start at $19 a month. Its only unlimited use is a free image model; we found different free offers on different pages.
Dreamega
Dreamega's pricing page lists Lite at $19.99 a month for 300 credits and Pro at $29.99 for 800, and a free plan with 32 points and up to 3 videos. Its September 2026 model guide puts MiniMax H3 Max at 480p at 25 credits for 5 seconds and Kling 3.0 Standard with sound at 126, about $1.67 and $8.40 on Lite or $0.94 and $4.72 on Pro. It says failed generations are refunded automatically. Results on free accounts are public by default, and its terms say content made by free users is owned by Dreamega. Credits expire 100 days after payment lapses.
Cicadas (ours)
On Cicadas a 5-second clip costs 28 credits on Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite at 480p from an image, 63 on MiniMax H3 Max at 480P and 140 on Kling 3.0 Pro without sound. The first pack is $4.90 for 400 credits, once per account, and the standard packs start at $15 for 1,500; packs last 365 days, and subscription credits expire at the end of each billing period. The quote shows before you generate, credits return automatically if a generation fails, and every video is a private MP4. There are no free credits and no unlimited plan.
What we could not check
We did not sign up to the other four, so their prices are as their pages state them, not quotes we saw in their generators. Higgsfield's per-clip figures come from its own article, which calls them approximate. Kling's membership page did not load its plans for us, so we could not check unlimited or yearly prices there. We also tried to read Pollo AI's pricing and terms, but its site showed our browser a security check, so it is not in the table. Every site can change these numbers; check the page before you pay.
Questions
How much does Higgsfield cost?
On October 17, 2026, Higgsfield's pricing page listed Starter at $15 a month for 200 credits, Plus at $49 a month ($39 billed yearly) for 1,000 credits and Ultra at $129 a month ($99 billed yearly) for 3,000 credits. Its own article puts a 5-second 720p Kling 3.0 clip at about 10 credits.
Which AI video generator is cheapest per clip?
Of the five we read, CreateVision listed the cheapest 5-second clip: Grok Imagine 1.5 at 480p for 25 credits, $0.25 at its stated $0.01 a credit. Cicadas came next with Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite at 480p from an image, 28 credits, $0.28 to $0.34. Kling's pages state no price per clip.
Does Higgsfield refund failed generations?
Its help center says yes: "You get the credits back automatically, usually within a few minutes." Grok is the exception; its generations are charged the moment they start. Kling, CreateVision, Dreamega and Cicadas also say a failed generation gives its credits back.
Is Higgsfield Unlimited really unlimited?
Higgsfield's help center describes Unlimited models as specific models where generations don't deduct credits for a set period. On its pricing page Starter has no unlimited models, and Plus includes 7 days of unlimited Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0 and Nano Banana 2. Other models still use credits.
Do AI video credits expire?
Most do. Higgsfield credit packs last 90 days and plan credits reset at renewal. Kling plan credits last a month and bought credits 2 years. Dreamega credits expire 100 days after payment lapses. Cicadas packs last 365 days and subscription credits expire at the end of each billing period. CreateVision packs never expire, though its monthly credits do not roll over.
Are my AI videos public by default?
Higgsfield says everything you create starts private until you publish it, and CreateVision says everything is private by default on any plan. Dreamega says results on free accounts are public by default and paid plans can keep videos private. The Kling pages we read do not say. Cicadas delivers each video as a private MP4.
