About Omni 1.1 vs Veo 3.1 on Cicadas

A cook in a white jacket and dark apron tosses vegetables into the air from a cast-iron pan and flames rise around it, in a wider side shot than the Veo clip that shows his face and a second cook behind him. The perfume bottle orbit, on Gemini Omni Flash 1.1.

Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 at 720p, 6 seconds, from the same picture and prompt as the recorded Veo 3.1 Fast bottle clip; back in 49 seconds. The camera moves around the bottle as the prompt asks, with the rocks and leaves sliding past and the water ribbon flowing behind it. The square shape and silver cap hold, but the glass turns from deep green to a paler, clearer green partway through; the Veo clip kept the bottle unchanged and hardly moved the camera. The sound is quiet trickling water, with no speech or music.

Omni 1.1 vs Veo 3.1 FAQ

Tested on Cicadas · reviewed 2026-10-12

Six clips through fal.ai in three same-prompt pairs at 720p. The three Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 clips were made on 2026-10-12, each sent once and none retried: text to video, 4 seconds, 16:9 (back in 42 seconds); text to video, 4 seconds, 9:16 (37 seconds); one picture to video, 6 seconds (49 seconds). The Veo 3.1 Fast clips are the ones already recorded on this site: the bottle on 2026-09-08 with sound off, the kitchen and the street on 2026-09-30 with sound on. Kitchen: both show the toss and the flame; Omni framed wider and showed the cook, Veo stayed close on the pan with a larger flame; Veo's sound was a sizzle, and two automated listeners heard rustling and a thud on Omni. Street: both show the figure walking away under a clear umbrella with rain sound; Omni's signs carry made-up lettering although the prompt asked for no text, and Veo's signs are blurred. Bottle: same picture and prompt; Omni moved the camera around the bottle and the glass turned paler partway through, Veo kept the bottle unchanged and hardly moved the camera. The two clips of a pair were made on different days, the Veo kitchen clip was made on the Veo 3.1 page, which may have added its fixed line about one continuous shot, and three prompts are too few to rank the models. Standard Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Lite, 1080p, 6- and 8-second text clips, speech, extension, editing, reference images, 4K and same-day speed were not tested; the one Veo wait on record is about two minutes for the bottle clip on 2026-09-08. Omni was switched off on this site from 2026-09-30 to 2026-10-12 after four provider failures in a row.
